Dooley sighed in resignation as he raised dark red eyes to meet Dorcha's.

"A little. But I can hunt tomorrow; doubtless the guild is missing me." He left off the 'as well as Belial', afraid that the human may become cross with him. The vampire slid to the side of the bed and hauled himself up onto his feet, gathering his things before turning around to lay a gentle kiss on Dorcha's forehead.

"Worry not. I shall not force you. A creature such as myself shall not taint your bright spirit." He turned and left, limping lightly.

(I wish i could but I fear what may happen if Drake finds me molesting his friend. XD)

    "Hmmm, I didn't know I had a bright spirit. "
Smiles to himself while touching his lips where they had touched. He turns to the window wondering what was planned ahead of him for the day.

A disturbance near the entrance of the bar caught the attention of many of the occupants, who craned their heads to take a look.

An old man in a pointy hat and a badger walk into the bar. The old man, waving a curved stick around, says to the badger "What could possibly be defeatin' a wizard like me? I got me wand and me spellbook!" to which the badger replies "Master, you can't depend on blind luck like last time! You need to be more careful! Those people outside looked extremely dangerous!"

One of the denizens of the bar coughed, while another muttered about not getting the joke. They returned to their drinking.

"Badger, ye worry too much! I be feelin' more powerful than ever! And don't be forgettin' we be rich now!"
"Master, for the last time, those daggers aren't made of magical gold. They're just daggers."
"Ach, ye be a fool badger! I be settlin' this once and for all, I can identify ye daggers with one of me magical spells!"
Tsenre took out his purple spellbook, and flipped through until he saw a spell that had a big question mark next to it.
"Aye, I saw a scroll once that had this same symbol on it. A man read the words and found out his wife had been cheatin' on him!"
"Master, I don't think-" Badger, caught off guard by Tsenre's blatant disregard for how an identify spell is supposed to work, failed to notice Tsenre pulling out his wand and pointing it at the pocket that contained the daggers.
"Div'ilo Yunaer!" Tsenre bellowed, causing one of the bar occupants to yell at him to shut up.

A small spark shot out of Tsenre's wand, and hit his pocket. The spark flared for a moment, then his pocket sealed itself. "Me daggers!" Tsenre yelped, pulling at the pocket. "Master, that was a "hold portal" spell. You just magically sealed your pocket." Badger said, again worrying about his future as this man's magical familiar. He wondered if you could file for magical divorce.
"Wot? But I need those daggers!"
"Master, I think it's best if you don't try to cast any more magic for now. The spell will wear off in time."
"Aye, maybe ye be right badger. I be seein' about gettin' us some ale." Tsenre took a seat at the bar and patted himself until he found a small pouch in an inner pocket of the robe. He briefly wondered about the name "Terence" stitched into the side before opening the pouch and fishing out a few silver coins.

"Server! Me and ye badger need some ale!" Tsenre yelled at the barman.
"Master, I can't drink ale. I'm a magical badger." Badger said hopelessly.
"Nonsense! Even ye wildlife be needin' an ale every now and then."
The barman sauntered up to where Tsenre was seated.
"Two ales, then? Hey, no pets in here."
The barman pointed at the badger.
"Pet? He be no pet, he be my faithful slave!"
    "Magical companion." Badger murmured.
"Aye, magical slave. He goes where I go!"
The barman regarded the badger for a moment, and then looked up at Tsenre. He saw an ugly old man wearing a tattered robe with a glowing pocket, a pointy hat, a face like a smashed crab, and clothes that look like they had been exploded, drenched, then exploded again. The barman decided not to push the matter.
    "Aye, two ales it is."
Tsenre nodded smugly. "See badger? I be a great and powerful mage, people be listenin' to what I say."
"Whatever you say, Master." Badger looked around, and the two waited for the barman to return.

(( Summary - Tsenre managed to magically seal his own pocket, but did find the money pouch belonging to the previous owner of the robe. Badger and Tsenre are seated at the bar, minding their own business and waiting for ale. ))

Badger slowly scanned the bar. There didn't appear to be anyone particulary noteworthy here at the moment, mostly just citizens drinking themselves into a stupor. He shrugged, a movement that required some effort on his part, and returned his attention to Tsenre.
"Where be me ale!" Tsenre yelled, slamming his fist on the counter.
"Master, we should get a room for the night. I know you aren't feeling it, but casting too many spells taxes a mage."
"Eh? Wot you be goin' on about badger?"
"It's simple, master. Every time you cast a spell, you expend a bit of your energy. Not like the energy you expend from moving around, but well, something like your "soul" energy. You've only got so much of it, and trying to expend energy you don't have causes something called "soul burn". But you'll be fine so long as you rest now and then."
    Tsenre boggled at the animal.
"So ye be sayin' I need to sleep or I be usin' up me soul?" Tsenre ventured.
"Something like that, master. I was once the familiar of a mage who drove herself past her limits... bad things happened." Badger shuddered.
Tsenre nodded. He knew mages were all powerful. But he also knew your soul was important, and damaging it sounded like a bad idea.
"Aye then, badger. I be gettin' us some ale and we be gettin' a room so's I don't damage me soul."
Badger sighed, somewhat relieved. While he didn't particulary like Tsenre, seeing as how the old man was dense enough to be used as a building material, he was bound to the mage as part of the spell. And soul burn had a way of lashing out to anything connected to the mage... Badger shuddered again, and shook his head.

The barman returned, sporting two mugs of ale.
"There ya go, two ales. That'll be four silver."
Tsenre handed him the coins, and after a brief inspection, the barman accepted them and wandered off again.
"So, badger, ye seem to know a lot about mages."
"You aren't my first master, master."
"I thought ye familiars served their masters til they died?"
"You're right, master. But the familiar itself isn't killed. We just go back to..." Badger hesistated a moment. "Where we came from, until we're called again."
"So ye be seein' a great many things, eh badger?"
Badger paused, staring at the wall. "Yes, master." he said quietly.
The two sat in silence for some time. Tsenre offered Badger an ale, which Badger politefully declined, again calling attention to his magical badgerness. Tsenre shrugged and drank both ales.

(( Summary: Tsenre is kind of drunk. He and Badger are still at the bar. ))

(( I'm not sure who that is but I hope I'm not plagiarizing anything ))

Tsenre stared at the empty mugs, swaying slightly. Badger glanced up as Tsenre, then returned his attention to the bar. He was fairly certain they were safe in here, so long as Tsenre didn't attempt to cast any more spells. But Badger had the feeling that could change very quickly.
    "Master, we should retire."
Tsenre continued to stare at the mugs. He had been thinking a lot lately, mostly about how he couldn't remember much of anything since he found himself in a fountain. He shook his head; mages couldn't be doubting themselves! He steeled his resolve and attempted to flag down the barman.
"Server! We'sh be needin' a room for the night!" Tsenre yelled at what he thought was the barman.
The barman ambled over to the old man.
"What do you want?" he asked, addressing the side of Tsenre's head.
Tsenre spun around to face the barman, spinning about 180 degrees too far and falling off the stool.
Badger hopped up onto the stool and caught the eye of the barman. "We just need a room, sir. He's had a few too many."
Barman craned over the bar to look at the fallen old man. He appeared to be halfheartedly fighting with what remained of his robes. "Two ales are the limit, huh? Fair enough. Room's 6 silver for the night."
Badger hopped down, snagged the pouch from Tsenre's writhing from, and tossed it up onto the bar. "There should be enough in there, sir."
The barman took the pouch, weighed it for a moment, then nodded. He disappeared into the backroom, and returned with a key. "Yer room's the second one on the left, up the stairs."
"Thank you, sir." Badger glanced at Tsenre. "I don't suppose you could help me get him up there, could you sir?"
"Sorry pal, cargo haulin' is extra and you only have enough for the room."
Badger grimaced, and hopped down to where Tsenre was thrashing about.

(( Summary: Tsenre is drunk and lying on the floor. Badger is with him. They have a room in the silver hog, but no more money. ))

A few soft footsteps were heard outside of the pub. The door swung open, and in stepped Ginine. Her hair brushed a little in the wind and she smiled. Glancing around, she then walked in and sat at a booth, waiting a bit for some interaction.

    Level: 14
    Name: Ginine Atrion
    Age: 16
About: Maria's old friend and a traveling healer. She chose to stay a while in Sacriana seeing Maria and getting a good chance to catch up.

Badger, alarmed by the sudden intrusion, scampered out of sight behind Tsenre. A loud popping noise issued forth from Tsenre's pocket, signifying the end of the hold portal spell, and a couple of daggers spilled out.

Badger took stock of the situation. Tsenre, the mage he was magically bound to, was drunkenly rolling around in front of him, muttering incoherently to himself, with weapons pouring out of his pocket. A girl had just walked in through the door, and while she didn't look threatening, experiences of the past had taught Badger to be extremely paranoid. But the rest of the bar seemed uninterested in helping Tsenre, and Badger needed to get him to safety before he did something stupid. Again, Badger added in his head.

Badger cautiously approached the new comer, and attempted to get her attention.

(( Tsenre is out of it. Ginine, a badger is squeaking at your feet. ))

"Miss, my master is in need of assistance." Badger shifted his head in the direction of the old man on the floor and looked at him. "We have a room rented for the night, and he's in dire need of a good night's rest." Tsenre began singing, for lack of any other word to describe what he was doing. Badger stared for a moment, then returned his attention to the girl. "Please, miss, could you help him up to his room? The key is on the bar. It's the second room on the left, up the stairs."

Tsenre slurred something about a wizard's staff having a knob on the end.

(( Ginine, a badger is asking you to help a drunk old man up to his room. ))

"Follow me, miss." Badger led Ginine to Tsenre, who was halfway through the song "Mary Had a Sailor Man" at the moment. "Here he is, miss. I doubt he's heavy, and I apologize in advance for his appearance, but if you could please drag him up the stairs to the room I'd be much obliged." Badger hopped up into the bar and grabbed the key in his mouth. He stared at Ginine expectantly.

Nodding, she grabbed the old man. The badger was right; he was much lighter than one would think. Holding his scrawny arm over her shoulders, she began to drag the drunk to the stairs. "Alright, just lead me to his room," she said before starting to pull the old man up the stairs.

Badger nodded. He hopped down off the bar and scampered up the stairs, waiting at the top. Tsenre, having exhausting his compendium of drunken bar songs, promptly passed out.
Badger gestured towards the door on his right.

She pulled him up, dragging his feet along the wood flooring. "That's close, so it should be fine," Ginine laughed. The old man she was helping, seemed a tad heavier now. "He's sleeping... I'll help you put him to bed then," she offered while getting him up the stairs. She reached the top with him and grabbed the key gently from badger's mouth. Unlocking and opening the door, she hauled Tsenre inside and placed him on the bed. "There we go," she sighed in relief, "Need anymore help, I'll be in town for a while now. So come find me."

"Thank you, miss. We'll seek you out when we can, if only so my master can offer his thanks as well." Badger retrieved the room key from Ginine and escorted her out of the room, and then nudged the door closed. A few attempts were made to turn the lock, but Badger succeeded only in marking up the door. He turned back to Tsenre, who was loudly snoring on the bed. Badger knew that if the old man wanted to have any chance surviving, he was going to need allies.

Badger tugged a blanket out from underneath Tsenre, rolling the old man over. He didn't seem to mind, and continued to snore into the pillow. Badger wrapped himself in the blanket and drifted off into sleep.

(( Badger and Tsenre are asleep! ))

Ginine nodded and stepped out, feeling the door close behind her. Then not hearing a lock from the door, she sighed and said a quiet prayer to protect them through the night. And with that she went off in search of her dear friend. "I've done my deed for today," came out in a laugh as she walked downstairs and out into the plaza.
